Radius brake pads?

Just got a set of Radius brakes for their mud clearance.

The fit doesn't appear super tight as is, so I may have to mod to limit flex...? I am wondering what users have felt about the brake pads? Are they too hard to brake well?

I won't get to ride the built bike for another week, so if braking is going to be super-poor with stock pads I would like to have them by then.
