Hi, with the cross season looming I was wondering if anybody has used Tufo adhesive rim tape on none Tufo tubs? Tufo recomends only using there tubs with the tape, but if you could use it on other brands it would be a lot quicker than gluing. Also Tufo only recomend using standard tape for cross, has anybody used the extreme for cross? Thanks!

I have seen 5 or 6 rolled cross tubs where the rider was only using the Tufo tape. I would not suggest it, but there may be riders out there using the Tufo tape alone with success. YMMV. Now, the Mastik tub tape combined with Mastik One glue, that is a bomb-proof combination. The last tub that I had to remove was a bear. After a lot of work, the base tape came off the tire before it came off the rim.

I've used it with luck in a modified "belgian method" like Zank described. USE only in combo with glue for CX.

I used it once and rolled a front tire in a race. I don't recommend it.

I used once this stripes last season, last race, and a team partner many times, always in dry conditions and there weren't any problem. When is muddy I heard a mechanical is recomendable to apply a silicon cord between the rim and the tubular to avoid the humidity gets into the stripe.
