Since Scott does not have a Carbon CX frame available yet who makes some of the lighter frames?

CX is truly the branch of bicycle racing that you need a lightweight bike. Especially in Belgium when you are running thru all the mud and sand! I heard Sven's bike is sub a 13...

hell no sven nys' bikes are around 8,5 kg, depends on wheels and tubs.
his teammate groenendaal's bikes are lighter because he lets away every little screw that isn't absolutely necessary. but rabobank is very bound to sponsors like shimano, selle san marco and pro.

I asked Sven how light his bike was at the CX race at Middelkerke, BE last December and he told me it was under 13 so take that for what it is worth.

From what I can gather the Colnago C50 Carbon CX frame is the lightest I would like to know the weight somewhat officially though. It is expensive and hard to obtain esp. in the U.S.

Thanks guys!!!

Todd

at the worldcup in pijnacker in november 2004 my friend christian heule was standing right next to sven nys when they weighted his bike and it was over 8,5 kg. heule is nearly as ww as me, so he was interested and told me every weight afterwards. since then, there were few changes on nys' bike, wheels are maybe a bit lighter now, but stem and fork heavier, the rest is just dura ace 7800 now and then. maybe he meant 13 kg :D

He maybe did get confused I am sure there is not too many people in Belgium talking pounds for weight.

But what I really want to know is what are the light cross frames available? I mean for the money a Kona Major Jake is close to 3 ibs and retails for only $599 u.s. The Alans and Ridleys are a little lighter but a lot more expensive. I currently have an Empella Bonfire but not the SL. Maybe I should just stick with that! Fun chatting though.

Don't know how it compares with some high end framesets, but my custom ti Omega Axis tipped the scales at 1420g, which I was pretty happy with.
