I would like to run a cyclocross bike with wider tires than most folks run. It seems that many frames/ forks are limited to narrow tires. I would like to run either maxxis wormdrive 42c or IRC mythos CX 42c/40/38c tires front and rear. I would prefer not to go the 29er route because I am used to road geometry and drop bars now.. I met a mechanic at a bike shop who assured me he installed a set of 42c tires front and rear on a Specialized Tricross. Question is... Who has experience actually fitting 42c tires on any other CX bike. Im willing to run a 42c front and 38c rear. I will never race so UCI legality is not an issue, and mud is a very minor issue in SoCal. Im willing to piece a bike together, does anybody have experience running wider tires on RitcheyWCS Forks, Easton carbonforks, Fuji aluminum frames, salsa frames, etc.. Thanks for the advice...

My girlfriend had 35C Nokian tires on her Kona Jake The Snake with room to spare, a 38C will definetly fit in there. No such luck with Quasar carbon cross forks, you'll never get the tire trough the brakes without having to readjust the brake pads. Hope this helps.
