Now that's a setup that justifies the status 'Gravel bike'!
BEFORE: Stock no pedals: 17.85lbs
AFTER: with pedals 19.03lbs
Fork locked at 70mm (axle to crown reduced), unorthodox seatpost to compensate the geometry since the front was raised a little.
Fork open at 100mm
Solid plans to change
-Brakeset to.....something much much lighter (surprise)
-Cassete/RD/Shifting to something also lighter (also surprise)

Things are all tight but clear to work just fine. It was unexpected to see the Clement Las 33x700c actually reaching 38mm on those Hed rims.
I also had to replace the blue top cap on the twinshot knob on the fork for somethings smaller to clear the frame.

I’m with you on that. The goal here and my intention to share is to just see what can be done with a stock bike and mess around with components and ideas.boots2000 wrote:Ha- My hardtail is lighter than that. Begs the question- why?
If I put tires like that on my hardtail it would be under 18 lb.
This bike is still on stock wheels and they are quite heavy. Now I’m exploring the retrofit-ability of the MT8 brakes to a drop bar....quite possible.
