Hi all

After doing a bikepacking trip on a 12 year old full suspension MTB recently, I decided I needed a new bike to make the experience even more enjoyable. After mulling over what to get, I finally decided on a Niner RLT steel. I ticks all the boxes for me so I'm really looking forward to building her up.

Just a few photos of the frame for now

How's it looking? What did you build it up with?

Ooops. Sorry for the late reply. I haven’t been on here for a while. I went with a SRAM Rival groupset, ritchey bars and seatpost (seatpost is from my old MTB so it weighs a ton), brooks c13 carbon saddle, ritchey wcs 27.5 Wheels and a set of Mavic MTB rims built up on Hope MTB hubs. I recently decided to put it on a diet as it was a rather hefty 11.3kg. I swapped to a tni carbon seatpost, and old Chinese carbon saddle and a SRAM Red crank that came off my road bike when I got a power meter. That had dropped 600g. I plan to get some DT Swiss rr21 DB wheels with gravel king 38mm tubeless tyres. This will drop a further 800g and will hopefully make the bike feel much more sprightly. As it is, the bike is such good fun to ride, but it is a little bit of a slog when the road goes up. The diet will hopefully make both the ups and downs fun. I’ll try to get some more photos of the build in the next few days.

It looks good... it's a shame about the weight. I'm trying to decide about whether the steel or aluminium is a better option.

Outstanding photos.

What frame size is that? 61?

@sub7kg yeah, the weight was a surprise but it’s a gravel bike so a little heft doesn’t bother me too much. Just makes my road bike feel like a rocket when I swap back to it. My mate rides an Aluminium Mason Bokeh and loves it. With beefy tyres on the bike, I don’t think that frame material is quite as important regarding its ability to dampen road vibration etc.

@saba thanks. No, the frame is a 59.
