I had been trying to sell a custom-built 2015 Niner RLT 9 with a top spec Di2 setup (details here for the curious). However, after a couple months of little action, I got a bite but the buyer wanted the Force 1 groupset on my 2016 Niner BSB 9 RDO. I didn't really want to keep the uber fancy Di2 stuff, but I also don't need two cyclocross bikes, so I obliged and set about swapping everything around. I weighed the components, and here I present the findings:

Derailleurs: (Winner: Force 1 by 29g)
Force 1 Rear Derailleur: 262g
XTR Di2 Rear Derailleur (long cage): 291g

Front Brake: (Winner: Force 1 by 118g)
Force 1 (includes Force 1 calipers+ Force 1 brifters+hose/oil+160mm front brake adapter): 334g
R/S785 (R785 brifters+RS785 calipers+hose/oil+160mm front brake adapter): 452g

Rear Brake: (Draw - negligible difference)
Force 1 (calipers+brifters+shifter cable+hose/oil): 457g
R/S785 (calipers+brifters+Di2 cable+hose/oil): 452g

Di2 Parts: (Well, duh!)
Di2 (includes Junction A, Junction B, Rear Derailleur Wire, Battery Wire, Down Tube Wire): 98g
Force 1: 0g

Conclusion:
Force 1 mini group is 240g (0.53 lbs) lighter than a comparable Shimano Di2 group.

Bonus Crankset Comparisons:
Dura-Ace 175mm crankarms: 512g
AbsoluteBLACK 38T oval: 63g
Wheels MFG PF30>24 BB: 155g

Force 1 175mm carbon crankarms: 464g
SRAM 42T X-sync: 75g
Quarq Power Meter spider: 154g (direct-mount chainrings save a lot of weight!)
WheelsMFG PF30 BB: 108g

The Force 1 groupset worked perfectly for me, so I somewhat regret letting it go, especially since the weight penalty is so much more than I expected.

Thanks, interesting facts!

I have a Force 1 crankset, but with an 80g direct mount Garbaruk ring and running in an adapted 68g Shimano BB :)

Didn't know the arms were relatively light!

Good info. I wonder what the delta would be between XTR/RS785 Di2 (1x11) and Force 1.

He included that in his 'rear brake' comparison. Well at least the inner cable. Not sure if the outer is included.

Why not use XTR 9000 calipers? They are lighter-

Shift cable and housings were included in the weights, as well as all the parts and cables required for Di2. It's a complete group comparison.

This was a comparison between XTR/RS785 in a 1x11 vs Force 1. Do you mean XTR vs. RS785?

I was planning to go with the 9000s (or some other XTR model even), but I got a good deal on the RS785 calipers. The weight savings wasn't worth the cost to me, plus I kind of like having the matching calipers and brifters.
