Advice Please - CAADX - Info wanted/estimated value
Moderator: Moderator Team
I'm on the hunt for a new cross bike and I've been referred to this Caadx through a friend of a friend.
He want's £410 and I'm just wondering if you guys think it's worth it?
I can't determine the frames age, thinking 2012 but not certain? Forks look quite old as well?
Cheers!

Yeah, it's a little bit of a pic and mix:
Shimano Ultegra 6700 rear derailleur
Shimano 105 5700 RH shifters
Sram Force left brake lever
FSA SLK cantilever brakes
FSA SLK chainset 38t
Shimano R500 wheels
Vittoria Cross XM pro tyres
Fizik Aliante saddle
Cannondale C2 seatpost
FSA SLK stem
Deda handlebar
Shimano M520 pedals
I thought the bit's second hand add up to £200 max, then probably £200 again for the frameset?

54cm frame, perhaps slightly smaller 52/53? This is a 54cm.
That's the thing, would I be better of going for a disc framset? Is it really that much better than canti?

At least try one before you make up your mind.

Sounds like it may be too big for you, best get something that fits even if it costs a bit more as there's nothing worse than trying to fit yourself into a larger than required bike.

Well, I ride a 54" roadie, I was just thinking perhaps a slightly smaller size would be more flickable for off road.
It's a decent spec, assuming it all works, and a year or two back you wouldn't have paused. Nowadays with discs so prevalent you have to ask if you can be bothered with canti brakes. You'll have to decide that for yourself.
