I have just built up my Redline cross bike and have already started to cut weight on this bike for next season. Just picked up a new Easton EC90 seatpost (135g cut to size), arione saddle, carbon spacers, F99 stem but now need to pick up a new fork. This is where the project has come to a stop. I want to keep the price down if possible and will not pay the crazy price for an easton fork. Anything else out there that is light and not priced through the roof.

don't know what the price is officially but you can get 4za forks(python, 396 grams uncut)for good prices here and the fork is without any problems.

what is the price simon?

i've heard from several racers(e.g. franzoi) that the fork costs not more than 200 euro for worldcup racers. but no idea if this is an official deal or not.

On several websites cost the python I believe around 280 euros

yeah, you're right that the Easton fork is really expensive. that €280 for the 4za Python looks pretty good. I've considered getting the new Planet X fork myself, but I really prefer the look of a straight-blade fork so I'll be sticking to my budget Kona Project2 for the moment. still pretty cheap for what it is at €180, though it would nice for them to hurry up and weigh it...

Right now the Redline fork is not that bad but I am pretty sure that it comes in at around 890g or above that. I really want to cut that down to 550g or lower but of course there is the budget. There are a few forks out there like the Alpha Q, Easton, Ritchey and the Trigon cross forks that I have my eyes on right now.

So I decided to go with the Redline Carbon fork. Not the lightest but sure as heck not the heaviest either. It weighs in at 595 according to all the research and their website. I was thinking of going with the Alpha Q or the Easton but man at double the price and only around a 100 gram savings I just could not justify it. With the new Easton EC90 bars on the way, new Arione saddle and the new Easton EC90 post, it should be not too bad. I would like to get it in around 18 lbs but will have to work on that with some other parts. I think that I will probably go with a carbon crank in the near future and get rid of the Gossamer Mega Exo crank set that is on there now.

The fork was only $180 US so that was not bad either.

can you weigh the fork when it arrives to confirm the weight? I've looked at that myself. If it had a carbon steerer tube it'd be much more WW.

I know. I wish they did it with a carbon steerer so that the weight was lower but then the price would be higher. So at that weight and that price, it was a good deal. When I have it I will weigh it full length and then will weight it with the steerer cut to 8".

The fork is here and looks really good. Straight carbon forks with no disc tab since I will only run canti's. The fork weighed in at 660g uncut and should weight in at around 600g when it is cut. They look great and I can not wait to get them on the bike.
