What would you commit to when it comes to saddle?
Say you ride a gravel bike with a more or less road bike position.
But you may consider you need to move more rearward riding messy descends.
Riding much in drops and on the hoods.
The prio here is to remove perineum pressure/ pain and also friction.

SQ Labs:

I ride and rode:
Selle Italia Turbomatic
= to soft, to much padding, to much sag.
Selle Italia Superflow
= too much sag in the center
Selle Italia SLR
= don't like the nose contact at all
Bontrager Hilo XXX
= tail to nose movement not really optimal
SMP Dynamic
= to waved, no movement
Fizik Antares 00
= to hard, pressure at perineum
Fizik Arione VSX
= just the worst i have used
Have had 14 saddles and i don't love anyone of them.
Don't even remember all experiences, but i think i need to check some of the above listed.
Any other saddle frenetic rider here, i am eager to hear your opinions, tips or ideas.
I am more or less sure i would prefer as little contact with perineum region.
Rely on sitbone in all positions and ofcourse also in drops.
Mainly a new saddle for my gravel bike "UP", but also for my Vial EVO D.
I have a new Astute Star Lite VT. Seems ok, a bit too hard for gravel perhaps.
Also have a ISM Attack i just ordered i will try.

Frankly I'm not very demanding for saddle shape) Used to ride Selle Italia flight, slr kit carbonio. Even syncros RP1.0 is comfortable for me)
But prologo nago evo X8 completely change riding quality for me) It intended mostly for XC riding. Using it on my Scott addict gravel bike So you can try Nago Evo variations for road/backcountry use.

I do like this one, because it is so flat laterally. But finding one has to sit back enough to get the sit bones on the wings nicely. In a very aggressive position I can feel a bit of pressure on the perineum as well, but there are softer versions with a channel that i've been meaning to try.
FWIW it is one of the best looking saddles out there, together with the San Marco Zoncolan.

+1 for this with cpc patches - they limit sliding around
Went from Arione as it had started to flex with age
Comfy and just a few mms taller

In my book fit matters most and what works for one may not work for another. In my own experience I found a cut-out in the saddle made a huge difference as well, but that's me.

Hi, I'm Matt, I'm an alcoholic. Sorry, err, perennial saddle fiddler.
Should that be a 'perineal' saddle fiddler?
I have a v-flow max. And I used to ride it on the commuter for a while, but I found that there wasn't a place on it where I felt really planted. I think that's because there is no real flare to it at the back to push against. It really just gradually gets wider towards the rear. This is perfect for the TT bike, but not the road - for me.
I also have:
Prologo Scratch TR - Too soft
Charge Spoon - Too bulky
Selle Italia SLK - Too small
Romin Pro - Found edges too pronounced.
I'm currently running Bontrager Serano on both bikes. RL on the Tripster, and RXL on the race bike. I have the 138mm ones, but I think I should probably be on the 148 version.

Try investigating a Specialized Chicane, they are officially discontinued but there are still heaps around. No idea why they chose to stop making them, very effective padding in the right spots and very light in s-works model. Use them both on CX race bike and mtb

I personally feel a more or less standard saddle is not going to help me.
I've been on 14 saddles so far.
It's probably ISM, Cobb or SQ Labs that could and will make a difference.
A fitter just told me ISM is good, but you really need to get it correct or you are going to dislike it.

One thing I didn't mention before - too much perineum pressure be a symptom that you have your saddle too high.
