So I have a 2016 Specialized Crux. It came with the Axis 4.0 SDS wheels, 24 count spoke/wheel (1625 grams claimed) With the only option being Rovals for direct fit wheels. I have thought about swapping out the spoke to lighten them up. Using Sapim CX-Super Spoke (3.6 grams ea. vs. straight gauge spokes 7 grams ea.) I can lose close to 160 grams off the wheelset. Also, another 30 grams removed using aluminum nipples. I think that will get them 1435 grams +/-.
Thoughts?

Those crappy hubs aren't worth the hassle. Just wait until some more aftermarket options pop up. Specialized is now shipping an alternative rear der hanger that will let you use regular 135x12 hubs.
Zipp and DT Swiss will have things out soon. I think HED might as well.

Yeah not worth the trouble to rebuild, they are fine for training. The hubs aren't particulary bad, just heavy also for stock wheels the rims are reasonably wide.
Probably hard to sell though so you have a dilemma if you splash out on bling racing wheels and then need to change the hanger for every day riding. So in that case you may find it is better to buy new hubs and or spokes for the rovals so you can have two wheelsets you can inter-change easily

That is exactly what my LBS recommended, if I won't be satisfied with the spokes.
Personally, not concerned about the weight, but more about the spoke quality and the factory tension. If they will fail more than once over the season, will consider this upgrade.
