Have had really good luck with Alpha 340 and 400 rims for tubeless cx and road usage. If you aren't running a tire wider than 35mm they work just fine.

I'm not a fan of the Grail at all.

I'm using the Grail with Hutchinson Secteur 28, run them at 70 psi. Been fine so far, although the flints seem to be attracted to the Secteurs. But they seem to seal well an very quickly.

I would go for Grail, I have experience with Crests on my MTB. Nice rim, but definitely not designed for road pressures.

Yes - I'm running my Grail / Secteurs combo tubeless at 70 psi.

jcrr wrote:@mrlobber- sorry to hear, hope it wasn't mid-ride... Can you comment on how the tire fit? Was mounting easy? Hard? Did it seat properly as far as you could tell?

It looked like it fit well... I was just experimenting with pressures at home. Wanted to put slightly more in because was planning to ride asphalt... well, it ended with a big bang and (obviously) a nice latex tube to be thrown away. Have put maximum 40psi since then for hard roads (to be one the safe side) without any trouble.

Aero bike | GC bike | GC rim bike | Climbing bike | Climbing rim bike | Classics bike | Gravel bike | TT bike | Indoors bike

Wanted to provide an update, and my own contribution to the little table I had produced in this thread.

I chose to try out Specialized's Roubaix Pro 2BR (700x30-32), with tubes, on my Iron Cross wheels. Mounting the tires was about medium hard- not the easiest, not the hardest. Then came time for inflating them... after having read all the different reports here, I have to admit I was nervous about a blowout. I carefully inflated, deflated, and tried to work the tire so the bead would mount on the rim, as intended. In the end, I took a chance and just kept pumping until pressure forced the bead to finally pop into place uniformly around the rim. I was at about 80psi. So far so good.

I'll update after a ride at more sensible pressures.

I'm running Schwalbe Pro One tubeless in 28c with Iron Cross rims. 70psi rear, 60psi front, no issues so far after 100+ miles.

Before I've swapped bikes, I've ridden for a year Crest with Vittoria Rubino pro 28c at 110PSI

I've added my submissions. Talked with a Stans Employee at the Taipei Show a few weeks back about it and considering I'm a 155lb rider, he didn't think there would be any issue running nearly any tire on the road at the lowerish pressures.

@whilgenberg-

Did they say anything more to qualify 'nearly any' tire?? I ask because I called the US number, and a Stan's rep clearly said nothing less than 28c, nothing more than 50psi. I also asked if rider weight was a factor (I'm 140lbs) and was told it wasn't.

Thanks for increasing the little database :D

I ran 32c @ 60psi on Bontrager CX3 tubefuls w/ my 200lb bum on the the bike w/o issue on the Grails 32h. Grails are a hard deal to pass up - you can get these at Performance for $320/set. I have 2 seasons on a set which I use with 25c and 32c tires.
