Hi all. I'm after a bit of advice. I've had a pre-order for a Canyon Inflite AL 9.0S Ultegra 2016 model for a couple of months now. Canyon are taking their time with shipping so am starting to think about another bike as an alternative.

The Canyon seemed to fit the bill as a winter trainer and occasional CX bike when needed. I have some CX tyres for those occasions already.

One more thing... Like the Canyon, it would be ideal if the frame and forks came with mudguard mounts.

Can any one recommend another bike?

I have up to £1500 to spend. Would like Ultegra kit and hydro discs if possible and reasonably light.

Cheers,
Dan

AFAIK you will not get Ultegra and hydraulic brakes at that price point... Put in 500 more, and you can almost get a carbon bike with the specs you want.

Cheaper also takes a rack. Sure if you look you'll find one cheaper as well.

I was told by my LBS that the aluminium Focuses haven't been manufactured yet. So they won't be available for sale for quite some time (maybe even after the Canyons). The carbons are available now, though.

EDIT: They seem to be available in Germany (looked at bike24.de), so maybe the information I got was incorrect...

Merida-Cube and Felt cyclocross bikes are also available at bike-discount.de, and they ship everywhere in europe I believe.

Cheers for the help chaps. I might wait and see what happens with the Canyon. Can't beat the spec for the money and if I wanted to upgrade the frameset to carbon I'd have a decent set of components to move over.

Been thinking... How bout the custom build route?

I've got a spec together that comes within a £250 of my original budget. Here it is:

Kinesis Crosslight Pro6 V2 frameset
Ultegra Disc Hydro Groupset
Fizik Superlight Classic Bar Tape
Continental Grand Prix 4000S II Road Tyre 28mm (I have a set of 32mm cross tyres already)
Selle Italia SLR Max Gel Flow Saddle
Deda Elementi Zero100 Performance Stem
Deda Elementi Zero100 Road Handlebar
Deda Zero 100 Seatpillar Black on Black 27.2 310mm
CX Disc Wheels Handbuilt
Shimano Rotors

What do you think? Anything that can be improved on here?
