If the trip will be strictly road riding why are you taking your crossbike? ¨

Any pad that slide into the shoes of a road caliper will fit the avid calipers i believe. Steal the ones on your roadbike perhaps?

Assuming there is a reason why you can't/won't take the pads you currently have on your road calipers, there are a number of manufacturers that produce fine pads (Swisstop, Zipp, Reynolds, etc).

I think the key is finding the right combination of pad that will work best with your rims. Do some google sleuthing or ask here. Good luck.
