11 speed, QR15, 6 bolt wheel options for a Felt F1x disc
Moderator: Moderator Team
Hi weenies,
So I somehow ended up winning a Felt F1X disc frameset off ebay for quite reasonable money. I'm going to go with TRP HY/RD discs and probably Ultegra 6800 gearset and an FSA or Cannondale BB30 chainset.
For the wheels, I'm looking for something...
11 speed (can also be Campagnolo 11 speed)
QR15 thru axle front
135 QR rear
6 bold disc
1500-1600ish grams
500-600 Eur?
I'll probably end up using this bike 50/50 dirt/road
What are my options? I've looked at a Mavic Crossmax SLR but it seems that they're only 10 speed now, are they going to come out w/ an 11 speed freehub?

Mavic freehubs have been wide enough to accept 11 speed cassettes for a long time. So, you are good there.
Also Easton has wheels that will work for you.
Or you could build something with DT Swiss 240/350 hubs.
Another option is any Specialized Roval mtb wheelset. They use DT Swiss internals, so you can install an 11 speed freehub of your choice (shimano/campy) on there.

Cool, thanks. Yeah I had come across the easton ones which look ok. Everything else I've read about the Mavic Crossmax has said that they won't take an 11 sp shimano road cassette as they're a bit wider? Dt Swiss definitely an option, looks like there's more options coming out on their side too.

Yes DT Swiss will allow end cap swaps and the X1 freehub. Hand built with the RYDE XC21 rim works well for tubeless clinchers. It is light and asymmetric.

Thanks, Jon.
Anyone know if the 11 speed hack will work on 10sp shimano MTB wheels the way it worked on 7900 series wheels? That is, you put a 1 mm spacer behind the cassette and then you take off the 11 and essentially get 12-15 (or 28) with 11 speed spacing but only 10 gears?
