hello everibody!
first i want to thank you for your support for this important race!
here is a quick race report:
i started very well and could ride between positions 6 and 9 in the first lap, but just next to the material post i had a flat tire(i think a snakebite from riding up the crossover bridge), as i realised it i couldn't turn and change bike immediately. i then had to ride half the lap with a flat rear wheel(a lightweight...)untîl i could take a new bike. after this i was behind place 30. i tried to come back to a group around place 20, but had to ride allone or with just one other rider everytime on the start-finish-line, and that killed me. 3 laps to go, after having another flat tub in the rear wheel(i then had to change back to the first bike, that's why you see the bike with lw front and neutron rear wheel in the other topic), a polnish rider crashed in front of me and i rode into his bike and landed with the left knee on his pedal. i had to pull myself up on the wodden posts because i couldn't stand on the left leg. i had so much pain in the knee that i couldn't sit on my bike normally(note the strange position in this pic)adn couldn't pedal normally, it was more like riding with one leg. i tried not to quit the race because a lot of people rode the 700 km from switzerland to zeddam to see me racing, but everyone just overtook me...i don't know exactly what place i got, and how big the difference to the winner was. i try to quickly forget everything except the first lap about this worlds and try to make it better next time...

Simon-

There is no shame in your placing. The opportunity to ride in the WCs is a great honor and you represented your country well. Many lesser men would have dropped out for fear of a bad result but struggling through your bad luck shows your courage and character. I wish you the best of luck for the upcoming road season (if you're riding).

Exactly! And you still have time on your side. Next year you'll come back stronger!

But one thing: you talk about photos. Where can I see them? 8)

Hi Simon, I watched all the races on tv as I sadly couldn't be there in person. I was looking for you and it seemed like you had a good start, too bad you punctured on such a bad place, especially with a course that fast! I saw a lot of people passing you very fast and already suspected you had a flat, too bad...
I'm sure you'll do better next year! Hope to spot you on tv again in some of the lasting races!
