So there is a murmur going around my shop that the UCI is planning on banning disk brakes for cross in 2015 (road will still be allowed). This came from our Scott rep and the supposed reason is that people are getting cut up to badly in crashes. Can anyone conform or debunk this?

Reading the title, I thought you were referring to disc wheels. I was like...?!?

I've yet to see a 100 rider mtb field on a 2km lap.

LOL. Being cut by brake discs. Some mountain bike races are very crowded, yet I've never seen or heard that happen.

I've been burnt by them in a cross race. (A pillock swinging his bike around whilst being lapped)
And seen someone put their hand on one in an mtb crash. He should consider himself lucky to be wearing gloves. Not that they could have been called gloves after the race.........

Interesting I heard the same from a Scott rep here in Canada. Also a Mavic rep... Who have no road disc wheels in their line though. They both told me UCI had no real plans to allow for road too. I do know Mavic is very 'in' with the UCI.

Hey @afalts I'm in Toronto I wonder if it's the same guy? But he told us that road will be allowed only cross will be banned.

I'm building my cross bike with discs but still not sure that I'll do any competitions with all the money that I've spent on the Di2.
