Does anyone know of someone that is making different size chainrings for the new shimano four bolt cranks? I know that shimano makes a 46, but I would like to be able to run a 44 or maybe even a 42 as a big ring for cross.

I think you can use Rotor chainrings.

Just use their inner chainrings, which come in even-tooth sizes from 34 to 44. To dress them up, use the Rotor chainring caps. I've had no problems with these combinations. If you check the 39/46 combination that the pros get, I don't believe the 46 has any ramping or other shifting enhancements, so you're not missing out on anything with these combinations. And riding cross with a 34/42 or 36/42 is a really nice pairing.
