Is there any chain keepers that would keep the chain set to my single chainring, that mounts to the braze-on on the bike?

Are you running it as a single speed or 1x 9 or 10? If you are running geared get one of the "clutch" style rear derailleur and you shouldn't need a keeper at all.

What sort of road derailleur would that be? Standard double one?

None of them will work, clutch mechs are 10 speed mtb only. And they have a different pull ratio road to mtb.

So unless you are running a flat bar set up, with mtb shifters. It won't work.

(You can space the mech out to correct the pull ratio if you really want.)

SRAM MTB rear derailleurs work fine with road shifters/bar ends. All of their 10 speed components are compatible.

I had a look at the options that mounted to the braze-on tab on the frame, but are too worried that if it jams, the braze-on will tear off, so I ordered a Paul components chain keeper that hopefully will fit around the seat tube.

if your seat tube is round then a n-gear jumpstop will do the trick

If your seat tube isn't round then Canyon do a chain catcher that attaches to the bottle cage bosses, if you have them, but it is a chain catcher, not a inner guide plate so will probably be too low for a single ring setup.

Other than that, and an outside bet, would a BB-mounted Hope chain guide. It would need to be fitted to your BB obviously which might mess up your chainline and necessitate a different type of BB but it might do the trick....

Don't mess with the keeper. I tried for my SuperX and failed during races. Used k edge braze on chain catcher. Switched after dropping the chain and having it jammed. Wolf tooth chainring or something comparable is the way to go. No clutch der necessary, just make sure there's no slack in chain. Raced in extremely muddy condition and bumpy course with no issues. I believe there's another brand out of Germany?

+1 thick/thin is the way to go on single ring setups. Best design of 2013 without a doubt.


There are 110mm BCD thick/thin rings - Works do them, and there are others too (tries to remember the name...)
