Probably not. I think it was an illegal handup. But it was heartbreaking to see him standing in the pits for minutes trying to get going again with no spare bike or wheels. Once he switched wheels he did a great job of staying in the race and toughing it out. The officials pulled him on the last lap. I think that was a mistake as he was in no danger of being lapped or interfering with the leaders. Definitely a gutsy ride though and deserving of much respect.
