I currently use a Campa Chorus crankset on my Major Jake cyc, but I want to change to a Sram X7 42-28 crankset.
My MTB was stolen so i want to use my cyc in the mountains as much as I can.
Can I put a Sram X7 2*10 chainset on this frame? Or the width is not ok?
Thanks.
Sram X7 crankset on Kona Major Jake?

I think it should fit. You might have to play w some spacers. The biggest dif would be chainline. It'll be way different than what you have now; it may or may not work out.

How steep are those mountains? I would say you should be able to do most with a 39 on the front and a 28 on the back. Unless you're talking real mountain biking, then I'm not sure 28 in the front would be enough unless you have a MTB rear derailleur.
We have pretty steep mountains here in Romania .
For example, the cyclocross national race is held in Poiana Brasov with a course that's more like XC.
For the moment I have 34-29 but would like to get 42-28 with 11-23 for road winter training and 13-29 for cyclocross in the mountains.
