Hi all,

Bits and pieces seem to be coming out around DA9000/9070…. Much seems to be speculation or educated guesswork.

For me, I am working through what to do with the complexity of 11speed and whether to make the jump, or to buy 7900.

I have SRAM Quarq cranks and multiple sets of wheels and cassettes. There are a few combinations I hope would work that would make me certain that 9000 is the right move:
• Use 10 speed cassette and wheels with 9070 groupset (obviously will be 10 speed) – 11 speed chain work? Or would I need to change the chain every wheel change?
• Purchase a new set of wheels and cassette to get 11 speed – obviously this will work.
• Trust that the Quarq will work with the 11 speed chain?

I am not so much thinking 9000 for the extra gear, more for the future and being on what the next “standard” supported format will be.

Anyone got definites or is it wait and see if the three points above work?

Bike24 has the full gruppo now available.

The cassette is a whole 100 euros more than 7900, you can get nearly 5 Ultegra cassettes for the whole price!

And yet the entire groupset is only €220 more than their 7900 price.

Has anyone managed to get any of the new blue SM12 SPD-SL cleats that are shipping with the 9000 pedals?

If so, how do they feel compared to the yellow cleats? Is the lateral movement eliminated? Is the rotational float all that's there now?

Sorry if this had been already covered.

It appears that dt swiss supply a hub body that will convert 10 spd to 11 but it appears that the wheel requires re-dishing.

Any others view or knowledge?

I have a set of Reynolds 46 that I'd like to convert - dt 240 hubs

Does anyone know of a US retailer that has the 9000 braze-on front derailleur in stock? I'm only seeing European retailers with stock. Thanks

Well it seems as the X11SL will work with both Shimano and Campagnolo: http://www.kmcchain.eu/?en/products/mul ... erailleur/

ProBikeKit also has the full group and most individual components available.

Still can't find any stock on 12-28 CS-9000 though. Once I find it, I am upgrading my 2003 105 group. That's got to be a substantial upgrade, right?

I haven't seen any place, on either side of the Atlantic, that has any cassettes that start with the 12. It seems Shimano have focused on the 11-23/25/28 cassettes first.

I just received the new pedals, but I am replacing Look Blades so I haven't tried the Shimano yellow before.

I will say I am very happy so far. I always used the black Look cleats (0 float) and to my surprise the blue Shimano feel more secure. Very snug, and the platform feels very wide and stable.

Do you have the pedals with the wider spindles?

No, they are standard. Although the pedals seem to have the same dimension from crank arm to center as the Look, in trying to replicate the fit it appears the cleats allow for more leeway side to side. In other words, you can reduce or increase the q-factor a bit.
