Lets just wait for it...it looks stupid today, but soon we will see this happening, with a more affordable and accessible system. You don't think it would suck to have to charge the battery in your car every three months? We still need to put gas I agree, because we are not the engine and even then, technology of today's day has almost reached the point to solve this problem as well...but in the bike we are the engines :) so...I still support my theory.

lion batteries are also very sensitive to the manor in which they are charged. Trickle charging reduces the lifetime of the battery. lion requires a constant current and then a constant voltage charge cycle. Neither are very possible using dynamo harvested electricity without first running through some big capacitors and a voltage regulator before hitting the charging circuit. Even then it wouldn't be practical.

yes in the beginning there was nexave di2 and it was heavy as sin

that had a rearhub with a dynamo build in

in my opinion its beyond the need for a race bike for any kind of dynamo for charging the battery of your drivetrain
the battery has more then enough cappacity to do a long ride before its empty

adding weight regardles of how little is a sin

cheers

That's why I was considering the concept of my first post of this tread...very lightweight.

This is a "NO" friction system guys, watch the video.

No friction, but you do have magnetic forces to fight against...

Oh, there's a catch alright.

Son of a bitch!! So they won't work on Obermayers?? Son of a bitch!!

Funny...yes, for the light - not function in carbon rims. But in regards to the DI2 energy solution, this could be aplied in some other area on bike other than the wheels, how about the crankset?

..but look the video at 1:43s. I don't see any resistance from magnetic field.
