I am posting a warning against the blade. The following is a copy of an email I sent to LOOK this morning.

"sirs:

I wish to inform you of my extreme disappointment with your KEO blade (titanium). Given the extraordinary price of these pedals, to find anything other than perfection would be dissatisfying. To discover that the units produce a knocking sound on every revolution of the pedal is OUTLANDISH.

I have returned these pedals for repair once before. After six weeks turnaround time (!!), they were returned. When new, the pedal would not hang as KEOs formerly, so that the cleat would find the platform intuitively. The repair of the pedal replicated these issues: after breaking in, less than two months later, the knock reappeared. In effect, the KEO has taken a step backward in one of the most noticeable of pedal failures, the noise that it produces when in use. Moreover, and much worse, it is also HAZARDOUS, since the relationship between foot and pedal is always uncertain when strapping in, and in a perilous moment this could be the difference between escaping unscathed and injury.

Also notable is the degraded quality of the cleat. I was forced to purchase replacements within mere DAYS of mounting these pedals to my crank, because of the horrendous screeching noise the accompanying cleats made. The old teflon reinforced cleat removed the noise; but it is sheer contempt for the consumer that would provide such poor utilities. I happened to know of the teflon cleat from prior purchases, otherwise I would have the pleasant experience of listening to my pedals howl till doomsday. Thanks for that--give your engineers a raise.

I was considering purchase of the look frame. That, given this experience, is not going to happen.

I have already purchased Shimano 7900's to replace your pedals. I consider it an outrage and a theft of my money and I am going to contribute as many reviews denouncing them AND YOUR COMPANY, as there are websites and blogs devoted to reviews.

You have taken 400 dollars from me for CRAP, and people should be warned."

I think the readers here should consider carefully any Look purchase, since these pedals are the flagship units of the line. If you cannot trust the company's product in one area, perhaps you should also question their other product lines.

sincerely,
tlt2.

Nice use of the word 'outlandish'.

Couldn't you find anywhere to use that word in the correct way?

I feel that I have been ROBBED on several minutes now and the relationship between me and this thread is now going to END.

I understand you're upset, but wouldn't it have been a bit more mature to wait for Look's response before blowing up internet chat rooms? In my dealings with Look's warranty folks (granted as a shop employee for a customer), they have been quite reasonable and willing to try to rectify any shortcomings of their products.

I hope you get things sorted, but maybe in the future you should wait a bit longer than the same morning a letter of complaint has been sent before you paste it all over the internet.
This board and the world in general would be a much nicer place if everyone could just take themselves a little less seriously.

This isn't the right place to publish your personal experience with one product/transaction without having had a response from the Company.

Too many people try to use forums to leverage some bad experience they are having.

I find your 'threat' of not buying a LOOK frame pretty purile quite frankly....

You may have a genuine gripe but boy do you come across as a whiney git..... "forced' to purchase????? WTF

oh and welcome.....classy first post :welcome:

I have a similar expirience with Look Keo blade pedales. The bearings on mine were worn after one season with moderate milage. Apperently you can not replace the bearing. All you can do is buy a complete bearing/axle kit, which is veryyyy pricey.

The fact is, these are complaints against a product that is both dangerous and irresponsible. In my reckoning they amount to theft, since I have paid 400 dollars for something that has spent as much time being repaired as used. This is the second time I have had pedals that failed to meet minimum expectation from Look. Twice is twice too many.

And not only are they a theft, dangerous and irresponsible, but I have warrantied these pedals already, and the returned pedals behaved as poorly as before.

You go buy these pedals. I hope they serve you well. But, seems to me, I am free to do as I, possibly immaturely, wish with both my time and frustration.

def. outlandish: exceeding proper or expected usage, limits, or standards.

I have 6000kms on my Keo Blade Ti's and no issues yet. Why would you post without a response from Look?? :noidea:

I am in no way affiliated with Look, but if I was I would be glad to NOT have you as a customer. Some people are not worth the trouble. A couple years ago I broke both of my arms due to a pedal failure. Despite having all kinds of time on my hands, since I couldn't work or ride for a couple weeks, I spent none of it threatening nor slandering the manufacturer. You're getting your panties in a bunch because your pedal creeks and hangs at the "wrong" angle which might be dangerous in some hypothetical situation.

What an outlandish use of the word outlandish. Betrayal of ignorance in the first paragraph is genius.

Drama queen... Enough with the hyperbole.
