Gold Campag/Enve
Moderator: robbosmans
Those of you that visit our face book page may have already seen these, but I thought I'd post them here for others. Maybe a bit over the top for some, but still a good example of doing things differently, which I love to do. Personally I really like these, there's something about the classic look of the scroll work gold leaf mixed with the modern look of deep carbon that is really appealing.
The build is as follows:
Campag Sheriff Star hubs done in 18kt gold.
Enve compsites 45 clincher rims done in 22kt gold leaf.
Sapim CxRay spokes, with one spoke in each wheel done in 18kt gold.

I'm sitting on the fence with these. They're certainly individual, but I don't know whether I like them or not, I certainly don't dislike them. I wonder what they would have looked like with all gold coloured spokes. It would be interesting to see them on the bike though.
Not bad! The only problem is that now they need a bike to match and what's that gonna be? It's gotta be gold-plated steel, right?
Gold in wheels has even been done in production. I've had the DT RR1450 Oro wheelset, also with gold-plated DT Aerolite spokes. Although in case of mine there wasn't much to see as they were covered in a thick layer of dirt.
How about these Schmolke LTD Gold series for bars and seatpost?

Wow! Don't leave them on ya bike when chained up in the city!
I can't wait to put those on my Bianchi Pista! The gold plated Aerospokes I already have are getting boring.
Hard to conceptualize the look without seeing the rest of the bike.
Cool non the less. I love the idea of one off builds.
I could see something like that built up for this bike.
