very impressed with weight reduction on the aeolus 5.. 100gm lighter. put zipp's to shame..

OCLV Carbon 27mm outer, 19.5mm inner width, DT Swiss internals w/star ratchet
TLR rims allow for quick transition from traditional tires to tubeless systems

Those weights are attractive. Shame about the logos. Hopefully they can be removed.

Bontrager refreshed their list of refreshed pads and you can use Black Prince pads, too.

I just got a set of the Aeolus 3 TLR. They weigh 1400grams (park scale) with the TLR rim strips installed. The wider internal width is nice and they come with a lager tooth ratchet than the 18.

I've been using Black Prince since I purchased my Bontrager wheels. They work very well with no ill effect.

What is it about cork pads that you don't like? I run them on metal and carbon wheels now. Love the smooth modulation and with DA brakes, stopping power is fine. They suffer a little in wet weather but I try to avoid this as much as possible.

do the wheels come with normal rim strips in addition with the mounted tubeless rim strips.

I've been happy with the normal Aeolus d3 3's I have... I wonder if you could just use double tape (stans) and have tubeless ?

They came installed with the TLR rim strips. There were no extra strips. I have them set up non tubeless.

Spdntrxi, I have the setup you are wondering about on my Zipp 303's. They work well enough, but aren't as secure in gripping the tires as my RXL's with rim strips. One thing I will say is this: the rim strips are good, but not perfect. Through experience, I run one bead of Stan's tape under the rim strip. This makes sure the rim is air tight. I've had problems with air leaking through the drain hole at road tire pressures, which were a pain to track down.

1400g out of the 3's is awesome! I may look into getting a set of 5's soon.

I see that some of you guys are already using the Swissstop Black Prince pads with your Aeolus wheels. From the Swissstop web site there appears to be 3 different models for us Shimano / SRAM users. Namely, Flashpro, Full Flashpro, Flash Evo. Their web site doesn't really explain the differences too well other than the Evo has a lower profile shape. Can anyone shed any light on the differences? I suspect I'll have to go with the Evos as I have a Trek Madone 7 Series with the direct mount brakes. The Evos seem to have a quite different "cut-out pattern" to the others?
