I was just reading on cyclingnews.com that Lampre is ditching C-Dale for Wilier in '06. Anybody else heard this? Sounds nearly official after reading the one-liner here:

Someone here a while back said it's because Willier already had a contract. Now they're calling it in. Maybe they skipped a year because they already had another team and to give Cannondale a chance to look for another place in the mean time?

I also heard Caffita (belongs to Saeco) is pulling out. Looks like it's back just to being Team Lampre now.

They most be  at Lampre!

Bad for D. Cunego to lose his Caad8 and the best crankset, he will not win the Tour de France on a Wilier

I doubt the brand of bicycle makes any real difference to a rider's performance in the TDF. C'mon, the real difference is the frame, and most other components are identical these days. What I don't get is that Willier gave few bikes to teams in the past for support, how can they expect to supply enough for lampre?

Lampre still has a 2 year contract to fufill with Wilier. When Lampre merged with Saeco they had to fufill Saeco's obligations with cannondale for lastyear. Now they must do the same with Wilier. Cafita, which is Saeco, is indeed out for nextyear.

C'dale cranks are amazing but Cunego will love his Leroi over his CAAD8. At least Wilier won't be trying to spoon feed him six13 garbage anymore

- Zipp rims will break if you look at them too hard
- R-Sys wheels will spontaneously explode
- The ZG crankset will never, ever exist
- Everyone needs Lightweights, even if they're fat and old
- Parts actually made of metal are SO 10 years ago

Well last year the Williers were Cr1´s with a good paintjob. So sure he can. Pros can have almost any custom frame especially if they are a big star like Cunego. Besides Willier´s 2005 carbon frame are made by the same factory who initially produced the Cr1 and have done well in the efbe test. And other posters have said it´s hardly the frame that makes a winner. If it was we would all be riding treks....

Rumour was that Valsir was going to leave Barloworld and replace Caffita at Lampre. Apparently at a meating last night Barloworld and Valsir managed to sort things out so Valsir is staying where it is... And so Caffita might stay where it is as well, but you never know....
