Perhaps losing 600 grams won't make an immediate difference in your climbing, but as mdeth1313 said, it might make a difference over a duration of climbing. Longer climbs might become easier, rather than short climbs getting faster.

Going a bit off topic here, so let me bring the discussion back to Far Sports .

I'm right about to pull the trigger on a set of 38T.

Thank you all for the feedback, that led me to my decision.

In a hurry to sell stuff, aren't you?

Hehe, yeah, it was a nice finishing touch to break his response on this thread into multiple posts in order to put him over the top.

Sooo... Back on topic.
Any other reviews of the new wider 38s or 50s from FarSports?

A bit off topic here, but here's a thread discussing impact of wheel weight vs frame weight. If I'm interpreting correctly, wheel weight has an impact during acceleration, but once at speed the difference between wheel and frame weight is negligible.

Here is a good explantion of the physics, with examples: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicycle_pe ... t_vs_power
a key point: "a mass on the tire has twice the kinetic energy of a non-rotating mass on the bike"
another: "Lighter bikes are easier to get up hills, but the cost of "rotating mass" is only an issue during a rapid acceleration, and it is small even then.".

Do any of these companies make 24-25mm tubulars? Preferably 38mm or less.

What companies? This thread is specifically about Xiamen Far Sports wheels only. Do a search for like, this thread:

Well.......I continue to use my 50mm front clincher (the rear one is an "off the front systems" one that I'm testing) from Xiamen far.....and until I got my headcold, I was doing 200-500km a week on it......still going strong. About half my riding is hills and they are steep here (and I do like to play the "who can brake the latest?" game with my mates....so they get a fair bit of heat from time to time).
I'm not sure how many K's I've done on this rim now.....but I passed the "yeah....it's GOOD!" status a fair while ago. Hint really seriously do get those Reynolds Cryo blue pads on, and ditch the generic fake cork ones you may have on your bike IMMEDIATELY.
Updated: Racing again! Thought this was unlikely! Eventually, I may even have a decent race!
Edit: 2015: darn near won the best South Island series (got second in age
-group)..woo hoo Racy Theremery is back!!
