I've been very happy and impressed by the Yishun rims that my wheel builder recommended and brought in for me. I had wanted the Farsports but he strongly suggested I stay away for many of the same reasons discussed in this thread.

There is a full review of the rims on my site here http://bit.ly/Yishunwheels

I'm really close to pulling the trigger on a set of 50mm clinchers. Does anyone have any experience with far sports's new U shape that has the 4 degree brake track?

Recommendations, people?

You guys know quite well, better than me, that these chinese products and these chinese sellers have a great value, if they work. But if they don't we get *f##k* up, and the service is always shit.

No ferrari for the price of a ford escort, ever. You know it, I know it, no point on looking for it.

I spend bout 3000€/month in china, still looking for a seller/supplier that it's not an ass.
Happy Trails !!!

:D

Generally, I had better experiences with Asian contacts than with many central/west European ones.

OK, Farsports owners - I am considering a set of their 60mm tubular wheelsets. I am leaning toward the 23mm wide rim version because my other carbon tubulars are 23mm wide also and I would not need to adjust my brakes when swapping wheels among bikes. However! I live in Vienna and the wind can howl here, so any thoughts on the benefits of going with the Farsports 25mm wide rim version to aid in cross winds over the 23mm wide version? I understand the weight difference to the 25mm wide rim is 30 grams per rim or 60 grams for the wheelset. I am fine with some extra weight if the benefit is clearly there, which I am not certain about.
For what it is worth, I will be running a 23mm tubular tire up front and 25 mm tubular tire in the back.
Feedback appreciated.

I also live in Vienna and know about the wind.

My 25mm wide U-shaped rims are completely unaffected by crosswinds, subjectively even less than low-profile wheels if that's possible. My 23mm wide classic shape wheels are quite tricky on windy rides.

The thing is, the 25mm wide ones are 38mm tall, the 23mm wide set is 50mm, so it's not a fair comparison.

23mm wide@38 (clincher) and 25mm wide@50 (tub) here. @80kg I don't feel much of a difference frankly in stability, I don't feel less stable from the extra 12mm and I don't feel more stable from the extra 2mm either. This being said, strong constant winds is one thing and strong wind gusts another. With strong wind gusts I take 24mm wide @25 Alu wheels out.

Marin, tomcycs, I appreciate the feedback. I definitely use the lower profile wheelsets I have for most days in this windtunnel town (at least lately).
But as both rims being considered are the same height 60mm, I am down to the width.

From the Farsports page, the 23mm and 25mm widths are pasted in here.
Really not certain the 25mm shape will provide noticeable benefit in wind and trump the added weight involved.

I bought the FSC50TM-25-DT last year from farsports in China and have been very satisfied with their performance. I did need to true them up a bit after mounting my conti comps, but that's it. I'm ready to buy a backup set from farsportsusa.com.

Went with the 23mm wide / 60mm high rims. Should be here soon enough.

I bought the 45mm deep 28mm wide wheelset and wrote a review on my blog:

I bought a set of 38mm tubular wheels assembled with farsports rims but they were demaged so the seller sent me a set of 24mm tubular wheels as replacement because the 38mm were out of stock.

these wheels are assembled with:
24mm tubular rims from farsports, rim's width 20.5mm
sapim cx-ray spokes, 20 front + 24 rear
bitex hubs

the maximum weight of the rider is 85kg (only rider, not the bike), i am 75-76kg and my bike is around 10kg with garmin, bottles, saddle bag and other accessories. Is it safe for me to use these wheels or not? I think it's not and at the moment i think the better solution should be to sell the wheels immediatly.
I live in italy and roads are not in perfect status, it's normal to ride on roads like these:

My original intention was to use the wheels on alpine climbs (i live in Piedmont) like Colle dell'Agnello, Colle delle Finestre, Izoard, Galibier, Sestriere, Bonette and so on...

Rode the Maratona on Farsports 24mm bitex / cxray 20/24 build + Veloflex tubs two years ago (my weight is also around 74-75). Didn't like the road quality either, but went both up as well as bombed down the descents on the wheels happily. Haven't been to high mountains on them ever since (unfortunately) though.
