Hello, weight weenies, after a year reading the forum, I am going to write my first post. I have asked price this evening of my dream bike. I I hope I have around middle of October.

I have some doubts; the wheels I am not sure if Stratus or Elan, because I think that carbon clincher wheels clinchers will be a lot lighter and cheaper soon, and the Stratus can become obsolete and heavy with 1450 gr.
Others doubts are B-T-P shifter clamps because safety, and B-T-P saddle clamp.
Also I am not sure of the stiffnes of FRM bottom bracket, I have read tests and is soft,

Any recommendations, suggestions, ideas are welcome

I´ll post pics when is finished

Nice build!

You can't use the Extralite bolts with the FRM bottom bracket, they take 13mm bolts. I suggest (based on what I have read here) to avoid the FRM bottom bracket in any case as the bearings are too fragile.

I don't recommend the FRM BB either. It's the only BB I have ever had a problem with.

The Record carbon bottle cages are one of the few other things I have broken and I have heard about quite a few others breaking. So far I like the BTP MTB cages pretty well.

BTP shifter clamps and seat clamps work fine as long as you use a torque wrench.

The Endurance Comfortline padded saddle would not be my first choice. Mine is more like 98g for the SL version and after I used it again recently I couldn't stand it. I like the plain carbon one much better. It lets your shorts move freely so they are more comfortable, it's easier to move around on, and it's also easier to get the level set right.

I agree with waiting on carbon clinchers to get better and cheaper. Right now you can build lighter aluminum ones for less money.

Probably also use a KMC X10SL instead of shimano chain.

You could also save a bit of weight with a cycle dynamics cassette.

Thank you very much for the suggestions, I will choose another bottom bracket (Deda D Power Ti, FSA, Stronglight Twister???). I don´t know the width of the chain KMC, but I want total precision in the shifts.

It´s true, I´ll pick Endurance without padd, I like very much the Record cages, the B-T-P are nice as well.

The great doubt, I am changing of opinion every five minutes about the wheels, but the Stratus really is just for the looks. I am afraid if I like very much the Elans I don´t buy another wheels later.

What crank bolts can I pick of black colour with bottom bracket Deda or Stronglight?.

My local bike shop owner had the Campag Record cages and he wore through the carbon on both cages due to use and snapped one of the ends on one aswell. He nows uses an aluminium cage. I use 2 Tune Wasserträger cages (half the weight (10g incl. screws), a third of the price (£25 incl. bottle)...!)

In fairness Peter, Simon did wear through two of these using them on his MTB! Muddy bottles and thin carbon not being the ideal mix!
