for lightweight and really good performance, go for the Planet X CNC Ultralight brakes.. ..stupid light, very very powerful and prob the best bang for the buck out there...

Depends on what your indended use is:

I'm in the same situation, looking for the lightest option possible, but personnally focusing on performance (they must be VERY efficient in my criterias).
Maybe this can help:

the kcnc c7 brakes are crazy light, but you gotta like their design. Lots of people of mideum weight (70kg) seems to like their cb1 brakes. The reviews say the c7 are an improvement over the cb1 on the performance side, I cant see why they would not perform good. I might get myself a set with better brake pads.

I switched from 7800 brakes to C7. The C7s modulate better and when you really grab the brakes they have 95% of the stopping power of Dura Ace. I can't see any reason to use normal brakes again when these work just as good.

The C7s are way better than the CB1s too, they CB1 seem to flex alot when you are on the brakes hard and there is very little flex in the C7s

I would have to throw in a vote for the Sram Red setup. I am a big fan of KCNC but the braking just doesn't seem to be quite as consistent as other options.

I was so torn between going with a set of 7800's for my build and the Ultralight CNC's.
I went with the CNC's. Didn't even bother with the stock SwissStops pads.
Went with a set of SwissStop GHP2's upgrade.

Compared to my OEM Tektro's, they are incredible.
I can't speak for how they compare to 7800's,
but I've read that they compare very favorably.

Honestly, it was a combination of the aesthetics and the weight savings
(not to mention the value for the cost) that lured me. But the reviews sold me.

The KCNC's would've been my 2nd choice.
If I could've run 7900's, I definitely would've gone with them even at the weight penalty however.

gotten a C7. Hopefully they are better than my previous brakes TRP 960, which flexes in hard braking at descents, the constant pressing of my finger hard and squeezing of the sram red thin levers are a horror.

Strange enough i feel that the 6700 braking levers feel better for my fingers.

I see this post is a little old but I'm surprised to hear this kind of feedback about the 960s. In the Velonews brake test, the 960 tested almost the same in "power" and "modulation" as the Sram Red brakes...

I bet folks are making assumtions based on the old SRAM Red brakes...

The new ones are better.

But if I were tuning I would still buy the KCNC.

Now quick, lets mane a bunch of other brakes that were not the subject...
