Debating on parting with some cash to get Tune Q/R skewers - so light but obviously could at a performance penalty - anyone out there with real world experiance with this product?

They are very popular here in Germany, and i myself own threee sets.
i have never heard of anybody who was not satisfied! They are very light, beautifully engineered (the bolt has fine thread and is built to work as a tie rod - just as they taught us in enginerring school...) and, in my opinion, they are also *very* pretty.
only (very minor) disadvantage:
the QR lever is on the "wrong" side, so if your frame has large diameter chain- and seatstays and the rear dropouts are very deep "countersunk" (see pic) that means you can't close them so that the QR lever aligns smoothly - maybe an issue if you race. But again, this is only true for very few frames.

I noticed on tunes' site that the road front uses an alu rod and the mtn uses Ti, plus the rear road uses a steel face on the nut I believe while mtn uses alloy - I'm leaning toward a mtn front willing to give up a few grams to greater confidence in the longterm life of the skewer - would you agree?

And where do they place that steel insert - the rear nut?

The weight difference is really neglectable, so if you feel safer with the Ti version, go ahead! you are right about the longterm reliability issue, though.

the MTB set i have has the washers on both sides. but
it might be they changed it over the years - you could go ahead and ask them yourself, they speak english and have been very fast to reply in the past.
