That's not the Hed H3 I know. That rim is much deeper, isn't it?
Does somebody know what it is?

Jup... I suppose Steve Hed made this especially for the team. I saw Discovery riders (and Postal riders last year) earlier on with "deeper H3 wheels".

See this. Ekimov in the 3 Days of De Panne, Belgium, March 31th, 2005:

Not sure about ulrichs brake, but the Headset in the Trek is a Perdido, It would be really nice to see that carried over into the production model.

I was wondering what that little cable could be... but euh... isn't that that special third brake handle mounted for the CSC boys? But I can't see it on this pic (I saw on tv that Voigt had it today)... :noidea:

edit: Velonews changed the pic on that url so I can see it now. 8)

I remember a while ago there was a company that would combine a Hed Deep rim with the hub and spokes of a spinergy rev-x. I dont think they really caught on becuase you had to buy both a Hed Deep Rim and a Spinergy wheel $$$. But I imagine the same concept is being used here. Those rims "might" just be The fairing part(since on hed wheels the spokes go to and actual aluminum rim) of a Hed Jet 90 bonded to a trispoke. It would make sense because then they wouldn't need that much new tooling for the R&D wheels Disco is riding. But I could be wrong so i'll probably get flamed.

Lance was racing on an all carbon one today though!

Also, I'm pretty sure he was on the new/Dauphiné bars today.

@ C a s r a n.. I see the third brake lever...look just below his right hand.

This probably a dumb question but what crank is Dave using? from that above pic it looks like a spiderless crank, almost like the 3 piece crank on my BMX bike.

Looking from the back of his crank I cannot see any crank bolts.

These have been the the local FSA distributors catalogue since late last year. Not sure of details off the top of my head, but I never made any more inquiries, so can't have been super impressive.

.

There is an alu brake surface. So I think it is not the full carbon hed wheel.
