DT Swiss RR 1450

Has anyone used this wheelset? I know it's not the lightest out there, but it seems like it would be a good value (weight/durability) for the money. If anyone is using or has used these wheels, please leave your opinion. Thanks!

DT Swiss RR1450 is a fab wheelset! Rode them for about 2 months until I was given a different bike, would take the wheels back any day. Strong, no/little flex, light enough for anything I do (racing), reliable and if you ever break a spoke it's simple to replace. Looks good too!
Well worth the $$$

Not good value in my opinion. You can get the same parts and build them yourself or have them built for considerably less.

However, would you say the combination of the parts is worth it, if I were to build them myself?

Yes, the individual parts are of excellent quality. When built up properly they should make for an excellent wheel set. I just wouldn't put them together the way DT Swiss has for the rear wheel. I'd use 3x lacing instead of 2x.

Why would you use 3X instead of 2X lacing? If it was a 32 hole rear I would use 3X but for 28 hole the bracing angle is less and would make a slightly weaker wheel.

Or you could just buy the complete wheelset and rest in peace knowing that you have a quality wheelset form DT Swiss. Where I come from the wheelset works out cheaper than the parts in any case... plus you get a guarantee!

What hubs do they use on the DT RR1450? They don't look like the 240s....or any other hub in their lineup for that matter.

They use the 240 'Radial' hubs. Just a bit fatter and 10g heavier than the normal 240.

Actually it's not. 3x is closer to 90 deg. on those hubs with 28h.

I trust my own building more and all the individual parts have a warranty as well.
