It shouldn't work as the chainrings won't fit on the spider. If you need 53/39 then you need to have standard cranks

It's possible to find 39/53 rings in a 110bcd. Extralite makes them as does TA and others.
And 52/38 is easy to find.

I stand corrected
So what would be the advantages of a 53/39 in 110 BCD compared to 130 BCD?
The compact being slightly lighter, vs the standard being larger and having slightly more leverage?

The 110mm BCD won't be as stiff. Weight: I'm not sure, but it will depend on the specific chainrings and the specific spider.

The advantage is he doesn't have to buy another crank, just rings.
The disadvantage is maybe a touch heavier than a 130 BCD crank with the same rings and slightly less stiff chainrings.
