I thought at the Ambrosio Crono 340g or Mavic Reflex 375g. Any alternatives?

I found them, but in 28 hole. So, I don't think it's a very strong set???

The reason that I don't want to use carbon is that I 'll hate it to change the pads every week

I don't know your weight or the use to offer my opinion.

When the Mapei riders used FiR rims they used a lot of Isidis rims from photo's I have seen in magazines and at races. Many 28h with radial front and bladed spokes, I don't think they did this if they were always building new wheels or had problems

i still have a small pile of Sun M17As, if you are not aware, at 310gram and bloody strong for the weight and profile, closest you can get to the old gl280.

use to build em with a 110g Hi-E hub for a sub 500 gram front wheel before all these super lite carbon wheels.
