Does anyone have any recommendations for cleaning the braking surface on zipp carbon rims. When new the re is a coated braking surface but over time the brake residue seems to fill in the braking surface. everything I have tied I can't seem to get it back to new looking. I thiought I had removed the braking surface but zipp says that is not possibe. Any suggestion greatly appriciated

I used green kool stop pads and they work fine and dont leave residue on the braking surface. Work great on both my reynolds and 404's (carbon braking surface)

The mavic rim cleaner pad should work fine. (an aluminium/metall polish should do the job just as well)

I was told not to use the green. I used normal shimano for a while. The wheels are a few years old when Zipp said you could use any brake pad. I think the worst i used was a set of aztec's that lasted 1 race. Zipp recommended goo be gone and a scotch bright pad, but that has not work either

Sorry, by mistake I thought he was talking about the Zipp rims for clincher (although the pad actually works on carbon rims too, but is less agressive compared to scotch brite)

Don't mess with. You will either clean out, then get filled up with on next ride. Or you will actually remove the brake surface and ruin your wheels.
