I'm thinking of buying a set of these chinese wheels. But I'm not sure about spoketype + number, and hubs. I'm certain I want Archteks 20mm, but SP or J-B spokes? I'm looking at the bikehubstore.com hubs:

The SP hubset will weigh 292g, and the J-B will weigh 277g, but thats such a small difference that it doesn't really matter.
I think I'm going to be using CX-rays. I weigh around 68 kg/149lbs and they will be racing wheels.

Re: bmcube nice wheel build but that doesn't look like a straight pull rear hub. How is the stiffness, I hear alphas can be flexy, but maybe not at 24/28 with 64kg.

rims: ztr 340 alpha: +- 350 gram each
I think they are ~380g now. They thickened the spoke bed a while back.

I finnally got around to signing up for the forum after lurking for a few months. I Would like a set of the hoops, but I am unsure of what size i should get. 50mm or 88mm? The front hub will be dt swiss 240 straight pull with cx-rays. I am looking at a 20/24 build. I am a big guy so I don't imagine more side force from the wind will be that big of a deal percentage wise. My current front wheel is 1400 grams with tire. I will be moving to the dark side and using tubulars. I am hoping to shave some weight off my total setup.-David

your current clincher wheelset is 1400 gr with tire include??!!
if this is right i don't know how you can go lower than that even with tubular wheel, need sub 1000gr(with 50 to 88mm this is hard) wheelset and sub 400gr tire+glue
He said the FRONT wheel is 1400g!
Assume ~1800g for the rear? Therefore plenty of weight to be shed!

You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.
