I've only just found this board and as I got sensible answers to my post about Zipp 202's thought I would be posting a little more.
I'll start by clearing up loose ends on a previous thread about UK hill climbs. The events are usually held on a climb on between 1 and 2km in length with a steady gradient of around 15% (we have loads of hills like this in parts of UK). It is therefore unlikely that you would need to change gear during the event, hence many people choose to ride fixed as it is both lighter and smoother with no dead spots.
