I run the ergosum pros on my Tarmac and although I liked them initially, I feel like I could be lower in the drops and the hoods, but the problem is I don't want to lower my stem anymore because its almost slammed as it is so I am pondering going to the Rotundos. I figure they're only like $80 and my dad already runs them so if need be I can get rid of them. I run my ergo sums so the bottoms of the drops are parallel to the ground, so the levers should be lower on the rotundos right? I like my hoods low and my tops high for climbing.

I'm trying to decide on new bars for one of my bikes.

Using Deda Newton shallow drops (44cm) on a LOOK that I have and really, really like them. Paired with new new Ergo Campag levers I am able to reach the levers very well in the drops. Thought this was only a dream before this setup. I should mention I'm 5'7" with hands that fit my body.

I've checked out both the Ergonova and the Ergosum and am trying to decide which I should pick up. I've also thought about just getting another set of Deda shallows...but considering the bikes are quite different, even the same bars might feel differently. This bike is a steel traditional geo Casati, not a carbon compact LOOK.

Measurements:
Deda Shallow - reach = 80mm; drop = 135mm
Ergonova - reach = 77mm; drop = 123mm
Ergosum - reach = 89mm; drop = 128mm

I kind of like the idea of the "egg" shape on the Ergonovas, since I have some of that plastic spine stuff under my tape on the LOOK, making the round bar more "egg" shaped.

I'm leaning towards the Ergonovas since I think less reach/drop would be preferable to more. I'll be putting 2007 Centaur shifters on the bars.

Any advice?

I tried the Ergonova's and loved the drops, but hated the tiny sharp bend on the tops.
I found resting my hands near the levers was not comfortable.
The oval tops are nice but I found I could live without them.
Currently using a Ritchey Classic, I think it is similar to the Newton shallow.
I love the gradual bend on the tops of the Classics, but the drops could be better.

How could the drops be better?

Hmm...this makes me think I should just stick with what I know works and get some more Dedas...

I probably can't go wrong & just need to grab a pair and get out and ride.

Thanks for the reply!

I have/had all three and couldn't stand the flare and shape of the ergonova and ergosum. Classic rotundo is where its at. (wish it was a little deeper though).

Bar shape is very indivual like saddles. What works for one may not work for you. Try it and you will know if its a keeper.

I've just moved from Deda Newton shallows - which I had (correction - still have!) on my Ridley to
Ergosum Pro carbons on my Cervelo R3. Really like the Ergosum but interestingly, have had to change width?
I have 44 Deda's but the 44 Ergosums were wider and I've changed to 42's - these seem perfect.
Strange :?

That makes sense: Deda measure outside to outside, whereas 3T are centre-to-centre. I am on a 46 cm Deda and just ordered a 44cm 3T Erosum today - actually not the bar I wanted at all, as I was looking for a 9cm + horizontal, flat section in teh drops, but that only leaves classic shape bars such as Rotundo which in turn down't seem to work with the new ergo levers all that well..never mind, I have convinced myself that the Ergosum will be a nice bar now! If teh weight on the website is correct, it's also a decent weight (245g for the Pro version) for the price range it's in.

I am using the Ergosum bars, and when you flatten the tops for a smooth transition, my reach is actually 92-93mm ... which is at the bottom of the range you were looking for.

BTW, I love them!

Could anyone compare the 3T Ergosum to the Deda Zero 100?

Thanks.

Do any owners of the Ergonova Pros have a real weight, some sites say 245g, some 260g another 320g, all supposedly for the same bars.

Thanks!

3T say 326g for the 42 cm, and they even show it on the scales:
