I don't know about hilarious, I find it a bit frustrating to be honest. It still costs the equivalent of a perfectly decent new bike to equip your current bike with power despite my hopes that the utility of the technology would drive mass adoption and force the price down.

I'm really impressed with what power2max did in quietly bringing a sensibly priced bit of kit to market but since Jeff Jones

and SteveI above

have written about variable temperature drift (some devices good, some bad to unusable) my money will stay in my pocket. The manufacturers don't seem to have addressed this issue at all which is a shame..... To part with a grand of cash you need a reasonable amount of confidence in the product.

I bought a SRM V at 250 Euro's. Works great. No need to wait for the news tuff in my opinion.

Any more feedback (also from others) after a month?

It seems the system is now a bit more widely available, my "favorite" european store just send me an e-mail: a bit less than $2000 for the entire system. Not exactly cheap, but about half the price of a Campagnolo SRM.

But Polar will go for Bluetooth Smart(Low Power). There must be a new Polar computer in development, but the Polar reps dont know much. Maybe someone in here have some info? I have been testing the pedals for the last weeks, they work fine, but could need a new computer (CS600 must be 5 years?)

If cell phones and computers fully adapt the new Bluetooth standard (like the latest Apple products, 4S new iPad), ANT+ might soon end up as the obsolete alternative.

Polar already launched the new Bluetooth Smart heart-rate monitor, Polar H7 heart strap

Polar H7 heart strap
This Bluetooth Smart device allows you to quickly connect to any Bluetooth Smart Ready device, such as a tablet or smartphone, to store and display heart rate data and other workout statistics.

Polar makes a wide variety of heart rate sensors and fitness watches with sophisticated training features. The Polar H7 is the company's first Bluetooth Smart device, and its second Bluetooth enabled heart-rate monitor.

Doesn't matter. I'll have a quarq by then. I've been waiting for these pedals forever. At that price point I'm getting a Quarq and I'll have it in a month.

Extremely disappointed. I _really_ wanted these.

I gave up waiting. My Quarq arrives this week so should be up and running from next week.

Haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else here, but Garmin are now saying that they're expecting to have the Vector out by the end of the year.

I'll believe it when I see it. Until then it's still vapourware.

Well, those expectations don't sound that solid. They're still assembling prototypes. Until those are tested and deemed to be adequate, then a release date is very speculative.

So we are doing some design changes and starting to assemble new prototypes now, and we would expect that by the end of the year we should have a solid power meter."

Guess that's what happens when you freeze out a massive percentage of the market by having no ANT+ compatibility. People just don't buy it.

hmmm Ant+.. More likely the new Bluetooth smart (Low Energy) standard, but I really don't know anything about this, so better listen to Tumppi :)
