The Wattbike Atom does indeed look intriguing.
But I just got a note from Wattbike that the timeline to deliver the Atom model is unknown.
Best guess is ready for intl. delivery end of next year.
Guess those mentions in Cyclist magazine and elsewhere were jumping the gun a bit...
As an edit, I just noticed that the Wattbike Atom is planned to only come with 170mm cranks.
I am not sure about you guys and gals, but I have ridden 175mm forever and recreating my position on 170mm cranks is always a compromise. In an age when flip/flop crank insert designs are available to allow customers to set their crank length, having a fixed 170mm length seems like a complete fail, especially at this price point. I wrote to Wattbike and pointed this out. Everything about the Atom design seems great for long indoor sessions, except a really critical contact point, the cranks...

SRM is having a pretty good sale right now: http://store.srm.de/sale.html?utm_sourc ... e-71783381

LOL that's a good one. Looked interesting for a minute but then when you add Look cranks, axle and chain rings it's 2800euro. But SRM without their head unit isn't the whole package so it's another 750 euro. Yeah a good one!!

Yes and you will update it yourself via your smartphone.
Looking for a Garmin Out-Front mount ?

As long as you are pairing with an ANT+ compatible powermeter, then you should not have any issues connecting, although I doubt Garmin has issued any recent firmware updates for the Edge 500, so the Edge will lack calibration/zero-offset functionality for newer powermeters, nor is it going to be capable of displaying/recording extended metrics such as left/right balance.

As above.
I have a Garmin 500 and an 800 as well as an 820. The process of pairing my quarq dzero with the 820 was incredibly simple because of bluetooth compatibility but the 500 via ant+ was fine, you just have to be careful when first pairing to ensure that any other ant+ previously paired devices such as a GSC10 or a HRM belt are either linked/connected before you attempt to pair the powermeter, or disabled. Google the known issue, I think the 500 can't cope with searching for several ant+ devices at once.
My advice would be invest in an 820, brilliant piece of kit and wireless automatic uploads/syncing are a revelation.
I now have Vector 3 pedals as well for a range of bikes and you really do need a bluetooth Garmin to get the full benefit of all the metrics but it does provide ant+ normal power data to the 500 but it seems a bit limited once you have seen what the 820 can do with the Vector 3 pedals.
Having said all of that, it really is the Vector 3/820 combination provides potentially "data overload" and I still use my 500 and 800 regularly!

Specialized either licensing the 4iiii design or doing a remarkably similar copycat job?? Spotted by Ray Maker at the TDU and now with a write up. Makes sense that Specialized would want to get some of those powermeter dollars.
