I'm building a new bike, so plenty of questions. I'm going with the Kestrel EMS Pro 31.7 bars and need a stem as well. Not sure of the length yet, but want something fairly stiff. Has anyone used any of the Stella Azzurra stems? I want to stay with a 4 bolt clamp. Any carbon out there thats safe?

Forgot carbon stems, aluminium is stonger and SAFER for the same weight

Easton claim that testing they have done show that a two bolt stem is actually better, apparently it's due to the way a two bolt design spreads the load evenly, whereas a 4-bolt may not, which can cause twisting of the faceplate and therefore damage to the bar. There is a white paper about this on their website.

Thanks for the replies. I looks like straight alum versus mag or carbon.

I noticed on the Easton doc that they compared against a solid faceplate with 4 bolts. I wonder how the 4 bolt with two seperate pieces compares. Less coverage than the Easton one piece, coverage wise...

The Stella Espresso states the size of the cro moly bolts. Easton does not state the size of their bolts on the EC70. anyone know?
