Hi Can anyone recommend a top quality wheelbuilder in the north of England.
I am about 85Kg and want some new wheels to use for 2-4 hour fastish training rides in hilly areas and sporting time trials (don't want aero as often windy here). I currently have Mavic SLs
I was thinking of some Tune hubs (Shimano 9sp), Sapim CX ray spokes and Mavic open pro rims.
Would anyone care to comment about the possible selection? Also, any ideas about likely weight?
Cheers
Nick

I use Mark & Dave at Macc Cycles in Macclesfield. Dave was an ex pro and really knows how to build wheels. He used to build all the Zipp wheels that came into the UK (via Yellow LTD). They have been building top notch wheels for years and I don't use anyone else. Excellent for setting your bike up too!

I have used Dave Hinde in Northwich for road and mtb all wheels have served me well. Current road training wheels are hope lightweight hubs, open pro cd rims I think the spokes are sapim xray? After three years still spot on, never been back to be serviced, last year hit a rock at night and blew both tyres still bang on true. One word of warning Hindes have received some bad feedback on various forumns for poor customer service, however I have never experienced this .
