I've got a set of these. One had a weirdly moulded/cut/rolled I.D. thread that was "undersized" (totally weird....I can't even think how this could be done!!!!) so I had to get another ergal/alloy nut from Rothshek 'coz despite a promise to send me another one, RidersParadise were crap at follow up (disappointing). The clamps have been fine, otherwise.
I'm 75kg and CAN sprint on a good day, so these have had a workout out on the occasional hillsprint (on the flat, I sprint on the hooks of the bars).
A good weight saving for the $$$

I found a "safe" use for my BTP Clamps. I used them to mount my aerobar risers to the bars. Kind of hybrid setup with HED carbon armrests, with Holland Ti Risers machined to angle the armrests properly and the BTP clamps. All of this is held together with a Reynolds Ouzo Pro Ti front brake bolt nut. Works like a champ. If there was a failure of the clamp you would not get hurt.

This catastrophic failure thing kind of bugs me. Lets say your clamps to snap (i.e. both sides of the clamp break clean apart), you still have your brake cables holding on. I guess you could make an argument that the rider could loose some control and crash. But if that is the case, I gotta say, you need to work on your bike handling (go MTB or BMX riding, where random hits to your bike happen all the time, at crazy angles). Ok, I am done.

For me these are on the list, a bit down on it, but on it none the less.

Have them on two bikes - 0 issues.
Also have carbon seatpostclamp custom made by BTP for my Parlee - same.
Always found BTP's customer service on par with the best.
Some of their parts are, eerm, somewhat less than top notch in terms of finish and feel, some are just fab and belong on any true WW bike.
The clamps fall into this later category.

i broke one because i overtightened the bolt
clamping does not greath on all bars
the round carbon shap is proberly less well made to take the shape of the bar like metal does
that said i never broke one by riding
i would advice not to lean on the hoods when sprinting or standing on the pedals

does anybody now if the DA 7900 ti clamps fit in a other brand shifters ?
sure would be my next stap for my ww setup for replacing the carbon ones

I was just fitting my new BTP clamps to my nude bar and one is exceedingly tight and the other exceedingly loose. What gives? Is this a problem?!

Also, I can't seem to find a good picture online of where to mount them on the bar for my SRAM Red shifters. Higher, lower, etc. I want to pre-position the clamps about where they'll be once everything gets built up .

I have had them on three bikes for over 8 years with zero problems.
