Anyone have an opinions on the new Look 585 with the carbon dropouts?

I've been considering selling my Ottrott ST, and switching my record group over to a 585... then, get some real weenie parts... Thinking about Keo's, Zero Gs, and some stoOpid light wheels.

Rich -

My 585 has apparently just turned up at the LBS. Now I have to either wait and save up ( ), or sell my C40 ( ) to have it built up with DA10.

I've chosen it because I've been riding nothing but Colnagos for a couple of years now, love them, but think they are a bit too hefty for my 62kg weight. Other options were:

1. CR1. Light, stiff, fast, but hate the look of it; just not for me...
2. TCR Comp/Advanced. Very good VFM, but again just not for me.
3. Colnago C50HM. Already have a C50HP, which I love, but think the sizing means my position is too upright.

I understand the worries about carbon dropouts on the fork. I just don't think Look would have built a fork like that unless they were pretty sure of its robustness, adn I don't think CA or Kelme would have raced that fork unless they were also pretty sure of it.

I'm going to put my Lightweights on the 585.

Rico,

That sounds like a sweet setup. I'll be following the Campy road though. I'm currently riding an Ottrott ST, but I just want lighter... and I just feel like its an old man's bike.

At fist I loved it, but honestly, the low BB is just not doing it for me. It handles fantastic, but it has left me flat, and wanting something lighter.

Anyway... I think the 585 is just the ticket.

Rich

I have owned 585 a month now. It has been a REALLY nice bike to ride and light also.

It weight 6.9kg with chorus group, Eurus clincher wheels and bit heavy but nice ITM K-Sword bar and stem.

Just wonder, where have you been riding with it, since the last month or so hasn't exactly been the sunny Californian weather over here?

Have Nokian started to make studded tires that fit the arches, or do you have your kinky s/m side, that must be pleased with bike-skating?

To translate our respected member Samu Ilonens phrase:
"Kyllä perkele näin on!"
Would roughly be:"I totally agree", with the politically correct filter on
With the filter off, it goes something like this:" I *&%&^~&& %&%ing agree!"

Ok - I get it. Are the rollers salty from sweat yet? :)
