What size are you?

As a partner in the Zerocompromise shoes, I can tell you that other pairs we have made in size 44 weighted 162g each, note these are not a special light version this is the standard version. The size 15 pairs were made for 3 time Olympic Rowing Gold medalist Drew Ginn who is now doing some cycling, he is a big guy and puts out ALOT of power. I have done a pair of special lightweight shoes for a client that weighted 124g in a size 38.

124g?! I think I may have found my next shoe.

What sorta weight would I be looking at size 41 for a skinny guy who only puts out a dozen watts?

But seriously, how do you go about getting a pair if you're not from Aus? What sorta cost and lead time we looking at? Any chance of tri version?

I would estimate between 135 -150 g for a 41 depending on a few factors.

There are a number of different ways to go about getting these outside of Australia depending on the level of customisation you require, this also goes for cost and lead time.
I take it by tri version you mean a reverse strap for quick access, sure we can do a quick access version no problem.

Ok,
First issue with bont shoes-- actually the US distributor. One of my freaking cleat bolts stripped as I was making adjustments to the cleat position. In extracting the stripped bolt, I cracked the t-nut that the cleat bolt goes into.
I called the distributor who told me to go through the retailer. So, I called the retailer, who called me back a day later (thursday afternoon) and told me they contacted the distributor who would drop ship the part to me to speed things up. That was the 18th of February. I figured they'd have it shipped on Friday and I'd have it by midweek (of this past week). Wrong, they didn't ship it until Monday and it hasn't shown up yet. So, it will be almost 2 full weeks without using those shoes.
Granted, it was not their fault the bolt stripped and I killed it, but I emailed asking the distributor what was going on and I got a response that pretty much told me I should be happy they even drop shipped the part to me.
I would have gladly paid for the part and I offered that to gearandtraining, but they said not a problem. I've since picked up bolts with better heads to make sure they don't strip.

Sorry to hear your disappointed with your support.
I can confirm this is NOT consistent globally, resident in Australia (for once perhaps lucky to be), i have recieved exceptional support form Bont:-

Road shoes:- Had a tread block detatch, they shipped overnight some replacements. Had enquiry re adhering blocks, returned e-mail within minutes. Had plastic straps stretch over time, they shipped replacments to me within 2 days.

MTB's;- Had to get a size up, they despatched overnight to allow me to use in a weeknd race.
Had all sole blocks detatch, they sent a full set of replcements next day.

I also saw a new front strip to protect the shoe and made an enquiry, they sent them to me overnight....

All in this has been the best support from any manufacturer in a very long time.
When they started up (road shoes) it waspatchy (2-3 years ago), but in the last 12 months they have been exceptional.

I take the time to aplaud the great service as few people do, its always the let downs we communicate.....
Well done Bont, a massive effort and improvement.

I had the following shoes in the respective sizes;
Sidi, Diadora & Gaerne 43
Pearl Izumi: 42
Bont: 41
Unfortunately, the Bonts didn't fit me like a glove even though there were the nicest shoes I got so far. Methinks some Zero's will make my feet happy and I'll do a review here while I'm at it. ;)

And daaaaaaaaamn 102g per shoe is LIGHT!!! I'd rather have some more upper though and a bit more comfort and protection from the cold, given the climate here. ;)

This Zero footwear deserves its own topic so let's not hijack the Bont thread. :smartass: PM sent.

Has anyone done a molding with custom orthotics in the shoe? I had a distributor rep person at Redlands tell me that I could put my custom insoles (which are pretty thin) into the shoe after heating so that they mold around those and my foot. Any experience with that on this thread? I was going to go with the specialized (which I've worn for the last two years), but the chiro and foot guy I'm working with said we should avoid varus insole as the actual cant is easier to control outsole (speedplay varus wedge, etc.).

Has anyone needed to use the rearward adapter for speedplays with these? It's hard to tell how far back the cleat holes are.

Thanks for the collective experience sharing, as always.

40:225 (one shoe only), weighed @ Bike Nüt, without cleat screws for a shoe with a buckle. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was 225....

Some numbers from my old (since lost) shoes, posted earlier in this thread, similar to the present size 40 with 3 Velcro straps and no buckle:

No hardware: 226.6 g (L), 228.9 g (R)
8 Bont screws: 12.5 g
2 Speedplay cleats, no plate, no screws: 54.7 g
shoes, with cleats: 260.3 g (L), 262.8 g (R)
same, for Sidi Genus 4 w/ Superfeet footbeds, including adapter plates: 383.2 g (L), 393.3 g (R)
mass saved: 253.4 g

since I had my cleat screw issue resolved- it took over a week to get a replacement screw, I've enjoyed riding w/ the bonts. I just baked my left shoe for the second time, I was having issues getting my foot comfortable in there. Haven't gotten back out on it (as we're enjoying the 42 degree monsoons) but my foot seemed to feel a lot better when I put the cleat back on and sat on the bike w/ the shoes clipped in.
They are much lighter and stiffer than anything else I've used. BTW, my right foot seems to have near perfect fit now. Hopefully the left foot comes around.

ok- it wasn't the screw/bolt, it was the nut that sits in the shoe.
