Take 10 4.6ah NiMH batteries.

add in some bits of wire and liquid foam insulation

and you have yourself an expensive Campy Record water bottle that doubles as a battery.

My new homemade light should be finished this weekend just in time for the time change.

what watt light are you using and I assume it is 12 volts? what is your burn time?

I know most cycling light manufactures use 4.5 ah batteries, did you consider going to the 9.5 ah "D" cell NiMh. I would think you would get much more burntime, or even the 4.5 ah "C" cells and save even more weight

Just curious, what your results have been I have some old light batteries that need rebuilding

Cheers!!

ps. I also noticed the charger and batteries you used are available on Ebay, how is the quality?

thanks

I have a few different lights. For the road I use a 10w spot MR16 bulb that was custom built. This allows for a bit over 2.5 hours of burn time.
Using a D Cell based bulb would allow for longer run times but would not fit in a watterbottle. The batteries I'm using are C cell and are 40% lighter than NiCads.

The batteries I'm using can be found several places just be sure you buy ones with soldering tabs.
