For my new R3sl I`m looking for some black chain rings as they better match with the `black and white `theme. I`ve got Camp Record cranks with the standard Record chain rings and was wondering if the Fibre Lite (Carbon) of FRM ones are better and if it makes sense to replace the Record ones for either one of these? The black rings ofcourse look better but I don`t know if they`re better than the Record ones..... and if they`ll fit the compact crank I have........

quoting myself:

carbon is not the ideal material for a chainring, certinly not for a mountenbike, this because if u shift under pressure the teeth will snap
because i dont ride that much on the biggest chainring and the chainring is so big and has enough teeth on it the wear will be very acceptable

end quote

point being: only if u use it for the big ring and dont ride it much
u can replace both but u have to shift with silk white gloves on
that is IF its availebel in a campa mounting, dunno

het staat zeker 10 keer beter dan gewoon zwart alu :P

If you have Campag compact cranks, then standard rings won't fit so neither of those will work. AFAIK your only options are Campag (not what I'd choose, purely to get at the marketing men who chose to use a non standard bolt pattern), TA Nerius, PMP, and Stronglight.

Not true! Admittedly, Campag compact don't use standard rings, but Fibre-Lyte can do rings to suit the Campag Compact chainset :D
