They have revised the clavicula crank, the weight will be 390g not 360g but still very light (weight includes BB and crank w/carbon axle).

here are some pictures.

Hi Spytech, very nice pictures. How about stiffness and do you have datas from the best cranks on the Marked?By the way I rode in an email from that Forum the Powerarms from stork are stiffer than most people think.....
Dellucci....ciao.

"Stiffness of clavicula is higher than the power arms, but the details we will only know after the tests." - this was from an email i got back from them when i asked about clavicula compared to the power arms.

Thm makes the power arms for storck, and this is an improved design, i would bet on them being stiffer and stronger. plus you get outboard brearings, integrated BB, no need to go looking for a good BB when you already have it.

i would say so, dont you think they are an improvement over the power arms? buy the chainrings you want, and your off. they will be about 700 euro's. they are still running test, but they should be available before end of year.

tune also has a new carbon crank coming out, but i like the thm design better.

It would be nice to know what they redesigned and why.
My concerns would be the adjacency of the bolts on the ends arm to the edge of the carbon end, and the skinnier (it looks to me) 5th arm of the spider. I would love to see the tests, but now I might wait for some durability results as well.

That's $857.00!!!!!!!!!! But there is a beauty to these cranks that makes anything I have seen previously ugly- Makes the Stronglight cranks look like a pipewrench- sorry Superlight........

why would the bolts be a concern they have alu inserts molded into the crank, but yes i would wait for the test. and the 5th arm, hmmm, i have thought about this myself, but lets wait and see on the test results, i expect durability to be just as good as the storck power arms, unless the design is flawed, hope not

It just seems that the alu insert is so close to the edge of the carbon, that it could create "spalling" or bonding failure or parting line splitting over time, with expansion, etc. There's material discontinuity there. Remember the Campa etc. cranks that delaminated/split at the pedal insert?
And the 5th arm just looks skinny....
They are elegant, no doubt, but I'll wait awhile to see road results.

bonding failure, hmmm, that would assume they are not of quality, spalling - that i dont see happening unless you hit the crank at the edge close to where the inserts are and you damage the carbon.

but lets see what the test say.

"Dear Jayson,

All tests show up to now a satisfactory durability and stiffness of the five spiderarms.

A design without pinch bolts is'nt possible, because we need the bolts to fasten the left crankarm.

The dimension of the carbon around the bolts is more than enough, because we lay up the rovings in its favourable load-direction."

i got this email back from them. i guess they are confident on their design. as they should the power arms are a success and still have the highest stiffness of all carbon cranks, and have the highest STW of any cranks in a french revew.

i have kept in touch with them through email, this is what they are saying

"the decision of which kind of bearing we will have is still open. At the moment we are considering all options"

they might consider ceramic bearings as an option. they might go into production next month.

i hope tour mag has a review of them soon with their fork. did they say anything about thm on this issue of tour?
